Clutch Release Re-Recorded Version of Classic Hit, “Spacegrass”

Clutch have released a re-recorded version of their classic hit, “Spacegrass,” the fifth in a series of new studio recordings that comprise the Weathermaker Vault Series“Spacegrass” was first released on Clutch’s self-titled album in 1995 and has remained a fan-favorite ever since.

Explains frontman Neil Fallon on the reimagined version:

“The lyrics got their start originally from something Tim [Sult, guitar] wrote. It involved a Dodge Swinger and Jesus. I added some words, and one of them was ‘AstroTurf,’ but that had one too many syllables. So I changed it to ‘Spacegrass’ – and the rest is history. “

Have a listen to the reimagined “Spacegrass” below. We’ll embed the original version of the track underneath as well so you can compare them side by side. IMO the new one sounds great — I’m not generally a fan of bands re-recording classics, but there’s no question that the original “Spacegrass” suffered from sub-par production. I’d reckon a lot of fans have gotten used to that sound, and to thee I say you are welcome to continue listening to it! No one’s forcing you to adopt this new version.
