Batushka’s Krzysztof Drabikowski Has Recovered From the Coronavirus

Krzysztof “Derph” Drabikowski, the 34-year-old founder of and guitarist for the generally-more-popular version of Batushka’s two current iterations, has revealed that he has fully recovered from COVID-19. He was diagnosed with the virus last month.

“Me and Edgar [Drabikowski’s son] got rid of the virus,” Drabikowski wrote on social media, “so if someone needed to buy food or anything in quarantine, we are happy to help.”

Drabikowski and his former Batushka bandmate, vocalist Bartłomiej Krysiuk, are currently in the midst of a lawsuit over who owns the group’s name. Both versions of the band put out new albums last year; Krysiuk’s Hospodi was released by Metal Blade and was generally not well-received, while Drabikowski’s independently-released Панихида/Panihida was met with much acclaim (including landing on the “Best of 2019” lists for both editors-in-chief of MetalSucks).

MetalSucks is thrilled to hear that Drabikowski and his son are both okay. We’ve been very lucky so far with well-known metal musicians afflicted with the virus recovering; hopefully this trend continues.

Thanks: Michael G.
