Sean Z. (Chimaira, Dååth, Sinsaenum) Returns With Nekrotik Flesh

  • Axl Rosenberg

It’s been a minute since we last heard from Sean Zatorsky, a.k.a. Sean Z. And by “a minute,” I mean roughly two years, when Sinsaenum — the band that also includes former Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison and bassist Frédéric Leclercq (Kreator, ex-Dragonforce) — released an album. Which is a bummer! Mr. Z. is frequently involved with quality shit, and he’s probably one of the most under-appreciated metal vocalists out there.

But now — HUZZAH! — the former frontman for Dååth, former keyboardist/ sampler for Chimaira, and Best Beard in the History of Metal winner has returned with Nekrotik Flesh, a new project with Simon Bondar. Zatorsky provides all the lyrics and vocals, and Bondar, who has been best known until now as a web designer and art director for bands like Type O Negative and The Birthday Massacre, handles the music.

And that music, I must say, is most excellent. Nekrotik Flesh’s debut EP, Vol. 1, is elephantine in its heaviness, but doesn’t sacrifice catchy songwriting to achieve that heaviness. It’s also got groove to spare. In fact, it’s very much in the same vein as Chimaira and Dååth. Not shocking, I know, but still! If you loved those bands as much as I did, you should definitely check this shit out.

You can do so by streaming Nekrotik Flesh’s Vol. 1 below! It’s available for purchase at the price of your choosing here.
