The Top 10 Bands Infuriatingly Listed on Metal-Archives.com

Metal Archives remains both an invaluable and infuriatingly capricious resource for metal fans. While the site helpfully contains information about literally thousands and thousands of metal bands, which bands are deemed worthy or not-worthy of inclusion seems to be entirely arbitrary.

To wit: earlier this year, we listed forty bands that are, for reasons we don’t understand, not listed on the site, including Slipknot, System of a Down, Between the Buried and Me, Converge, Every Time I Die, Kvelertak, and Magrudergrind… and then, earlier today, after cracking wise about Hericane Alice, I was shocked — SHOCKED I tell you!!! — to discover that the glam band was included on the site. That means someone in a position of authority thinks that this…

…is closer to “true” metal than this:

After doing a little digging, I was again shocked — again SHOCKED, I tell you!!! — to see that there were some other glam bands who had, somehow, found their way into the archives.

And it’s not even like I hate glam/hair metal — for fuck’s sake, my nom de plume is Axl Rosenberg. It’s just that seeing these bands on the site makes it all the more infuriating that Genghis Tron and Suicide Silence are not there… to say nothing of the fact that it also makes the exclusion of Ratt, Poison, and Cinderella considerably more confounding.

Seriously, all of these bands are on Metal Archives… it’s just goddamn bonkers.
