Listen to Chris Cornell’s Previously Unreleased Cover of “Patience” by Guns N’ Roses

  • Axl Rosenberg

Today, July 20, would have been Chris Cornell’s 56th birthday. The Soundgarden singer, I probably don’t have to tell you, took his own life in 2017. Cornell reportedly left some final recordings behind, which the surviving members of the band hope to release at some point… should they ever resolve an ongoing lawsuit between themselves and Cornell’s widow.

In the meantime, Cornell’s estate has now debuted the vocalist’s previously unreleased cover of “Patience” by Guns N’ Roses. And it’s the best kind of cover — one that stays true to the original while being distinctly its own thing. It is, in other words, an excellent way to remember this late legend.
