Primitive Man Unveil Unsettling New Video for “Consumption”

0

MetalSucks has only covered the new Primitive Man album, Immersion, once to date — its first single, “The Lifer,” back in June — which is a damn shame. Outside of the inevitable “heaviest band in existence” claims, which are certainly true, Primitive Man are one of the most captivating bands in the metal scene right now, IMO. It’s not just that they’re heavy, but that they’ve found new ways in which to be heavy — musically, lyrically and visually — which is no small feat some 50 years into the existence of metal.

To celebrate the release of Immersion this past Friday, August 14, Primitive Man unveiled a video for album-closer “Consumption,” complete with animations by frontman/guitarist Ethan McCarthy himself. Like the song itself, the accompanying visuals are quite intense and unsettling, and on that topic McCarthy told Decibel, who premiered the clip, simply, “Hell is here, right now.” Well then. That doesn’t leave much doubt about his artistic intentions, does it?
