Buckcherry’s “So Hott” is a Catchy Song with a Stupid Video
There’s a new Buckcherry single, and it’s called “So Hott,” and neither of the things I just typed give you any confidence the song is gonna be good.
The thing about Buckcherry, though, is that while they’re extremely hit-or-miss, they do sometimes hit.
So, no, there is no earthly reason this song should be called “So Hott” instead of “So Hot” other than perhaps SEO.
But still, the song is pretty friggin’ catchy. It’s not the best hair metal song you’ll hear this year, but it’ll get your foot tappin’ fer sure.
The accompanying music video, though, is colossally dumb.
It’s basically a T&A video which is kinda-sorta masquerading as a commentary on social media but is mostly just reaffirming the argument that a woman’s looks are the most important thing.
The clip begins with a young woman laying in bed, sad about her dearth of social media followers. Then she gets all dolled up and takes a bunch of provocative selfies. Unsurprisingly, the numbers go up. So she hits the streets rockin’ her new look, and soon has a gaggle of men following her and catcalling her. As the video concludes, her lips curl into a smile, because, y’know, she has now realized the greatest honor a woman can achieve: making men act like idiots. This is no indictation that the viewer is intended to see this chain events as shallow or sad.

“So Hott” will appear on Buckcherry’s just-announced ninth album, Hellbound, which is out June 25. Pre-order it here.
