The Devil Wears Prada’s New Song “Termination:” Not Bad!

0

The Devil Wears Prada have unveiled “Termination,” the first single from their forthcoming EP, ZII.

As someone who’s never been a fan of this band — to me they were in that group of generic post-Killswitch Engage metalcore copycat bands that emerged in the mid-to-late ’00s — I will say that this track is… fine. I don’t hate it! I actually really like the production — probably not something most fans would focus on — but it grabs me; it’s super dry and it hits hard, and the electronic flourishes add texture. Reminds me of the tones on Soilwork’s 2005 masterpiece Stabbing the Drama. And the song itself is decent enough. Would bang again.

ZII arrives May 21 via Solid State Records; pre-order here. The band has also planned a livestream event for Saturday, May 15, during which they will play the entire ZII EP in full; tickets are available at the same link as the EP.
