Monolord Unveil “The Weary” from New Album, Your Time to Shine

Monolord are nothing if not consistent. The doom trio have reliably pumped out a full-length every two years (at the longest!) since their debut in 2014, and these riff lords weren’t about to let the pandemic change that: Your Time To Shine, their fifth, will arrive in October, two years after No Comfort.

Along with that announcement comes the album’s first single, “The Weary,” a slow-paced, earworm-worthy stomper that arrives with a music video. “That’s us telling a story to future generations that we are sorry but we fucked it all up,” says guitarist/vocalist Thomas Jäger, echoing a sentiment I feel daily. Drummer Esben Willems adds, “To me, it’s an honest representation of how I feel about the current state of humanity.”

How about that album cover, above? Shew. Surely it’s tied into the theme Jäger and Willems both outline.

Give “The Weary” a listen and a watch below. Your Time to Shine arrives on October 29 via Relapse; physical pre-orders are here and digital here.
