Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello + grandson Team Up for Future Network Television Promo Music

Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello has released a new song, “Hold the Line,” with the singer/songwriter known as grandson (not a typo). I was hoping it was a Toto cover, but no such luck.

Maybe it’s because I already associate grandson with advertising dramatic content (I had no idea who he was until this past summer, when his song “Rain” became the centerpiece of the ad campaign for The Suicide Squad… although I see Vince wrote about him last year. Oops.), but the song sounds to me like it should be playing over an NBC promo. I can hear the announcer saying something like “And you’ll never believe what’s coming this spring on NBC!” and then they use this as the soundtrack for an exciting-looking montage. Just listen to it and tell me I’m wrong.

You can do so while watching the below music video. And don’t worry about forgetting the song’s title mid-listen — grandson wrote it on his goddamn torso for you.

The track will appear on Morello’s new solo album, The Atlas Underground Fire, which is out now. Get it here.
