“Huge Financial Crisis” Force Moonspell to Cancel Their European and U.K. Tour
Back in August, we reported that Portuguese gothic metal band Moonspell were forced to cancel their North American tour due to “unsolvable logistic and transportation problems.” It was a shitty situation that left fans in North America unable to see the band perform live. Well, it turns out fans in the U.K. and Europe are shit out of luck as well, as they’ve now canceled their upcoming tour in those regions as well.
According to a post on the band’s Instagram account, their Fullmoon Over the U.K. and Ireland Tour has been axed, saying the band had “no other option.” The main reason behind the cancellation? Ongoing financial problems and uncertainty in the region.
“By agreement with promoters and our agency, we have decided to CANCEL our Fullmoon Over the UK AND IRELAND tour.
“We are obviously desolate in bringing such sad news yet we had no other option.
“The reasons behind this decision are, as you can imagine, the huge financial crisis UK, IRELAND and Europe are living through that affects entertainment sales.
“We wish to meet you under better circumstances and will work hard to bring a show that is worth your money and time, hopefully in 2023.
“To everybody who bought a ticket please accept our apologies and gratitude. You can ask for your refund at your ticket provider.
“To all the promoters, we sincerely thank you for your efforts and preference and hope to work together again in a near future.
“THE SHOWS IN GREECE, ISRAEL AND DUBAI ARE GOING TO HAPPEN AND ARE NOT AFFECTED BY THIS CANCELLATION.
“Thanks for your support, under the spell!!!”
Financial and logistical issues have plagued several tours in recent months, with the war in Ukraine causing severe price hikes in Europe and an increased number of tours following the COVID-19 lockdowns snapping up all the available tour buses.
Here’s hoping Moonspell can get back out on the road, for their sake, their crew’s sake, and their fans’ sake.
