Photos: Spotlights, Melvins, and Mr. Bungle at Fox Theater in Oakland, California on May 23, 2023

Earlier this week, the madcap tour known as The Geek Show, featuring the wild musical antics of the Melvins and Mr. Bungle at the top of the card, with Spotlights offering support, hit Oakland, California’s Fox Theater. It was a night of kick ass music, offbeat sounds, and a chance to see the great Mr. Bungle continue to rip through their thrashier days, though they have played some surprising tracks along the way.

While we’re mostly based out on the east coast, we were thankful to have Derek Tobias on hand to take some killer photos of the evening’s performances. Thanks to his awesome skills, we on the east can live vicariously through him — at least until Mr. Bungle heads on over to our neck of the woods.
