Queens of the Stone Age’s “Paper Machete” Feels Like a Throwback

0

I don’t know about you, but the last couple of songs released by Queens of the Stone Age in anticipation of their upcoming album In Times New Roman simultaneously feel familiar and foreign to me. New sounds and styles blended in with past works in a way that left me wondering where this new record was headed.

If you were like me and curious what the hell Josh Homme and the rest of the band were cooking up, then today’s new single “Paper Machete” will feel safe and familiar — and that’s not a bad thing. As you’ll hear in the track below, this new single sounds like it could have ran on any of the albums prior to …Like Clockwork. If you’re even just a casual fan of Queens of the Stone Age, you should easily find something to like about this one.

If you simply cannot wait until June 16 for the full release of the new album, you can always attend a listening party at one of the band’s “Midnight Club” events. Slated to take place at various record stores and pubs in 23 countries around the world, QotSA fans will get a chance to listen to the new album at 11 p.m. on June 15 —one hour before it hits the general population. Exclusive vinyl variants and merch will be available at these events, as well as chances to win signed merchandise and free tickets to a nearby show.

In Times New Roman… will be released on June 16 via Matador Records, though you can preorder the album in all kinds of formats today. You can check out the full list of tour dates below.
