A car accident yesterday involving hardcore outfit Year Of The Knife has left vocalist Madi Watkins in critical condition, as the rest of the band recovers from non-life threatening injuries. According to a tweet from the band, the accident took place in Salt Lake City as they were touring out west.

Guitarist Brandon Watkins said on Twitter that the incident was “easily the worst day of my entire life” before elaborating about the band and his wife Madi’s current situation.

“We’re all alive but things aren’t good. Please wish Madi well. She needs everything everyone’s got rn. Also if you usually talk to Madi feel free to reach out to me instead I’ll talk to you and give you updates. Thanks.”

While the band is stuck in Utah dealing with their situation, Brandon’s father posted on Facebook that the situation has been “a heart-wrenching time for all families involved.” He also gave a rundown of some of the band members’ injuries, including the fact that Brandon suffered a concussion, while Aaron Kisielewski (guitar) and his twin brother Andrew (drums) suffered broken bones and “other trauma.” Everyone but Madi is in stable condition and recovering.

“Family and friends. Our son (Brandon), our daughter in law (Madi) and their two ‘Year Of The Knife’ bandmates, Andy and Aaron, were touring out west and were involved in a terrible accident after a show in Salt Lake City, UT. It’s been a heart-wrenching time for all families involved.

“Brandon was concussed, but is miraculously OK. Aaron and Andy both sustained broken legs and other trauma…but are stable now and recovering. Madi is in critical condition with major trauma. Please keep her in your prayers.”

We want to wish everyone in Year Of The Knife a speedy recovery and want to wish them all the best during this incomprehensibly difficult time.
