OTTTO Roll the Dice in the Music Video for Their Latest Single “Skyscraper”

Though it may be easy to dismiss Tye Trujillo as just another rich rock star’s kid, that might be a little unfair, given the sheer number of projects he’s been attached to over the years, like Thredge, Switchblade, Loco Lords, and Blu Weekend. He’s also filled in for Korn and Suicidal Tendencies when they needed a bassist. But his current work with OTTTO seems to be his main focus lately, as they’ve not only released their album Life Is A Game earlier this year, but they’re also hitting the road with Bastardane (featuring James Hetfield’s kid Castor Hetfield).

To celebrate their upcoming tour and the release of their album, OTTTO released a music video for the super catchy “Skyscraper.” Featuring some board gaming, weird old movie footage, and some chick with a creepy fuckin’ marionette, this video sure is something. And that’s probably due to the fact that it’s directed by Paul Marchand, whose past works include music documentaries like Jaco and Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me. The dude was probably looking for a creative outlet.

Speaking on the track and the music video, Marchand said the video reflected the title of the album, with each die roll causing some sort of chaos to ensue.

“OTTTO rocks. But man, to be honest we all had a lot of milk to drink that day. I just remember the swell was down and the surf zombies came inland. Someone brought a board game? This kinda stuff just happens in Topanga. I think it was a Tuesday.”

If you’re about to dismiss this band just because of their ties to Metallica, you’d be doing yourself a bit of a disservice. This track is real catchy and these guys can kick some serious ass.

Their tour will officially kick off tomorrow in New York City when they play the Gramercy Theatre as part of the Metallica Weekend 2023 Takeover festivities. You can find the full list of dates below.
