Krieg Announce a New Album Ruiner, Drop Single “Solitarily, A Future Renounced” After Nine Years Away

After nearly a decade since U.S. black metal outfit Krieg released their 2014 album Transient, the U.S. black metal outfit has returned to unleash an entirely new maelstrom of fury with the October 13 release of their upcoming album, Ruiner.

Rather than forcing you to wait for fall to begin descending upon us, the band released the new album’s first single, “Solitarily, A Future Renounced.” As you can hear in the clip below, it’s a happy/cheery little ditty that fans of the genre should immediately gravitate toward.

Speaking of the single, vocalist N. Jameson said “Solitarily, A Future Renounced” is an introspective look at the path his life has taken so far that’s landed him as a member of Krieg.

“Thematically and sonically this song is meant to pull myself back through almost thirty years of whatever you want to call it, my life’s work I suppose, to the moment when I was sitting in my room listening to Pentagram over and over and deciding that this was how I planned to shape, break and rebuild my life. There are very obvious nods to the Norse bands of the second wave, which is supposed to be taboo for American bands, but I’ve really given up caring about the rulebook written by what amounts to social clubs. This is the black metal I wanted to hear when I was sixteen, finally given life twenty-eight years later.”

Ruiner will be released on October 13 via Profound Lore Records, though you can preorder your copy today.

The band is also slated to take on some live gigs in the near future. For a list of those dates, check out the full list below.
