Corey Taylor Drops Punky Track “Talk Sick”

0

One month out from the release of his second solo effort CMF2, Slipknot frontman and dude that’s not afraid to sing the Spongebob Squarepants theme in front of a crowd Corey Taylor dropped another single, titled “Talk Sick.”

As the album’s third single, “Talk Sick” takes a different approach than the previous two offerings in that it’s got a more punk-infused sound. With power chords played on guitars that sound like they’ve been infested with murder hornets, the Taylor said the song was about shitty relationships and cutting them out of your life.

“That sick guitar at the beginning, I played that through a speaker about the size of a coffee cup. It made it sound violent; you feel like you’re being stung by bees who are playing along to the Sex Pistols.

“There’s an element of spiritual regurgitation, trying to purge yourself of demons that have been clinging to you because of prior relationships, romantic or otherwise. You realize those people bring a certain asshole side out of you that you don’t necessarily want in your life. It’s about trying to lance that boil and get that sickness out of you.”

Both of the album’s previous singles received pretty okay reviews from listeners, so I’m interested in seeing how this approach is taken by fans. It’s certainly a far cry from his Slipknot work, that’s for sure.

CMF2 will be released on September 15 via Decibel Cooper/BMG, though you can preorder or presave your copy today.

Taylor and his solo project bandmates will also go on tour starting later this month with Wargasm, Oxymorrons, and Luna Aura. You can find the full list of dates below.
