Baroness’ New Single “Shine” is a Sonic Journey Worth Taking

0

The mighty Baroness have a new album coming out and if you’re like me, you’re absolutely fucking pumped to get your copy of Stone in your hands next month. As always, the band keeps taking liberties with their own sound and creating unique experiences with each single they release.

If you remember, the first single “The Last Word” had a somewhat familiar feel to it thanks to the undeniable hook and trippy, melodic chorus. Then came “Beneath The Rose,” which has the kind of chuggy riffs you’d come to expect over the years from this band, while using John Baizley and Gina Gleason’s vocals to create an almost otherworldy texture at some points.

With “Shine,” Stone‘s final single, the band head into a more ethereal plane with acoustic guitars before giving way to a song that unfolds over six and a half minutes. It really is worth listening to as a fan, as it’s equally brand new and familiar at the same time.

Honestly, having listened to the whole thing already, it’s hard to explain how these songs sound and feel without talking about it in context of the whole thing. This is definitely going to be one of those albums that you’ll have to listen to the entire thing to really get it.

Stone is coming out on September 15 via Abraxan Hymns, but you can preorder/presave your copy today.

The band are also heading out on tour with a number of supporting acts including Jesus Piece, Portrayal of Guilt, Primitive Man, KEN Mode, and more. Check out the full list of dates below.
