Baroness Drop New Single “Shine,” Announce Special Acoustic Shows

0

If there’s one thing you can say about the artistic focus of John Dyer Baizley and Baroness as a whole, it’s that there’s always been a relentless drive for authenticity. When you hear a song or watch a video, you know exactly what you’re getting and even when you don’t, you at least know to strap in for the ride. And that’s exactly what you get with the latest single and self-directed music video for the track “Shine.”

Featuring the sort of massive sounding riffs, pounding rhythms, and vocal harmonies you’d come to expect from the band, “Shine” feels like a Baroness-ass Baroness song. You really get a feeling that the band have hit their stride now that they’ve managed to land a stable lineup.

Along with today’s single release, the band announced that they’ll be spending a week this September playing acoustic shows at various record stores along the east coast. For Baizley, a long-time adherent to the independent record store, this is a chance to give back to the kind of establishment that helped drive his musical experimentation.

“Independent music stores are a huge part of our musical background. We discovered so much music in them as teenagers; they undoubtedly had a profound effect on all of our development as young artists (they still do). We are thrilled to be able to travel around the East Coast this September to play stripped down sets in some of our favorite shops.”

Guitarist Gina Gleason also shared her excitement for the string of dates, citing the fact that it will give the band a chance to get up close and personal with fans.

“We’re really excited for the opportunity to play these intimate performances and to connect with the fans as well as the record shop owners and operators who have been so incredibly supportive of us over the years.”
