Dying Wish’s New Single “Path To Your Grave” is More Like “Fragments Part Two”

0

Earlier today, hardcore band Dying Wish dropped a new single and that’s all fine and dandy. But the way it’s being described has me once again wondering if the whole exploding glass door thing was a ploy… Hear me out.

While speaking about the new song featured on the band’s upcoming album Symptoms of Survival, “Path To Your Grave,” vocalist Emma Boster said the new song was written to be along the lines of “Fragments of a Bitter Memory.” What would be a bitter memory about fragments that happened in the band’s recent history? Oh, I don’t know — maybe the shower door that exploded into fragments and caused Boster to go to the hospital?!? Just saying… It’s Pepe Silvia all over again, man.

Obviously I’m joking, as the band’s song “Fragments of a Bitter Memory” deals with some heavy shit in Boster’s life. But enough about my dumb bullshit, here’s Emma’s description of what went into the new track.

“‘Path to Your Grave’ was written in mind as ‘Fragments Part Two.’ ‘Fragments’ is written about my struggle of my relationship with my stepfather, who was manipulative, controlling, and abusive towards me. That mistreatment has resulted in a lot of unhealthy habits and patterns in my life that I have struggled to move on from. ‘Fragments One’ was me talking about my experience publicly for the first time. After expressing my grief, the song concludes with ‘I would bury you if I could.’ This song also concludes with the same seven words but has a different outlook. Since releasing ‘Fragments,’ I have grown to a new level of acceptance with my trauma and this song is about that acceptance. The anger and the hurt is still there, but now, it just stings a little less. It has a much more triumphant expression.”

So yeah. Totally not about an exploding shower door. My bad.

Symptoms Of Survival will be available on November 3 via SharpTone Records, but you can pre-ordered today. They’re also slated to go on tour with Boundaries, Omerta, Foreign Hands, Gates To Hell, Roman Candle, and Excide starting in October. The full list of dates can be found below.
