Sunn O))) Collab with Sub Pop Records on Special 7″ Release

0

Sunn O))) always seem to have something up their sleeve, and now, it’s a collaboration with Seattle label Sub Pop Records to release a seven-inch.

The band are the latest participants of the label’s Singles Club series, and the digital release, titled, Evil Chuck / Ron G Warrior, will drop on October 25. The seven-inch will be sent to Singles Club subscribers shortly after that.

The album consists of new songs that were recorded during Sunn O)))’s Shoshin (初心) Duo tour. The music was captured via the VIP soundcheck that fans were invited to by front of house recorder Chris Fullard. It was worked on at Seagrass Studios with Brad Wood as editor and producer. Matt Colton cut the vinyl in London, at Metropolis.

The band say:

“In Sunn O)))’s 25th year, this is an extraordinary ‘full-circle’ moment for us. We grew up in north Seattle, began our musical collaboration in Seattle in the early ’90’s and were raised on the Sub Pop singles series those days. The series had an incredible history, with many of our favorite bands participating. It’s also Sub Pop’s 35th anniversary, Earth2‘s 30th anniversary, and the Sunn O))) Model T’s 50th anniversary this year! Sunn O))) would like to thank Jonathan Poneman, Nick Turner, and all of the Sub Pop team for inviting us into this legacy.”

SUNN O))) will celebrate the release with a show on November 22 at The Moore Theatre in Seattle with support by Earth (performing Earth 2) and Jesse Sykes (w/ Phil Wandscher). That date also kicks off their late-fall, early-winter tour.
