The Monarch (Ex-Soulfly/Ill Niño/Static-X/Fear Factory) Returns with “Dark Heart Phenomena”

Man’s hubris has always been a major focal point of heavy metal and for the latest track from veritable supergroup The Monarch, “Dark Heart Phenomena,” seeks to personify the struggle between nature, man, and the inevitable destruction of both.

Comprised of drummer Dave Kinkade, vocalist Chris Clancy (Mutiny Within), guitarist Marco Martell (ex-Malevolent Creation), guitarist Marc Rizzo (Ill Niño, ex-Soulfly) and bassist Tony Campos (Static-X/Fear Factory, ex-Soulfly), The Monarch has some heavy hitters in its lineup.

With their sophomore full-length album A Moment to Lose Your Breath set to drop on November 17, The Monarch has unleashed a heavy, yet melodic track and accompanying music video. According to Kinkade, the track is all about the interaction between humanity and the Earth as a whole, with both sides being personified in the chunky, driving tune.

“Imagine the Earth, the planet as a force, having a conscience. Mother Nature in her own words. The other perspective is my own, speaking on behalf of mankind.

“We are a cancer to ourselves as we are constantly trying to kill each other off. The Earth’s job is to sustain life and constantly shed itself from the bad in order to keep growing. When the Earth starts to die, it speeds up the rejuvenation process…to keep order.

Imagine the Earth being able to tell us exactly what was wrong with humanity and give us all the abilities to fix it, but instead we choose to over medicate ourselves with media. We blind ourselves to the real problems in the world and thus, end up living a pointless existence. Killing each other over possessions and ideologies as we are sick, and we can never escape ourselves.”

Released just two years after their debut album All the World’s Pain, The Monarch’s forthcoming album sees the powerhouse collection of artists back in the saddle as The Monarch after its members wind down from their other projects. As the album releases and more music comes out, the band said they intend on supporting the album by playing live for the first time as a group next year.

A Moment to Lose Your Breath will be available on November 17 via Art Is War Records, but you can preorder your copy today.
