David Ellefson Announces European ‘Bass Warrior Tour’

He may have a wide range of projects to keep him busy after he was kicked out of Megadeth back in 2021, but David Ellefson is adding yet another commitment to his plate for the coming year. Starting late February and running through most of March, he’ll be running through Europe on what’s being touted as a look back on his career.

Dubbed the “Bass Warrior Tour,” each stop on Ellefson’s next venture will feature “cherished classics, deep cuts, and insightful storytelling” from his decades-long career as a solo musician, as well as a long-time member of Megadeth over the years. Interestingly enough, the PR for this tour has Ellefson listed as a “founding member” of the seminal thrash band — just don’t tell Dave Mustaine that

Regardless of any potential backlash from Mustaine, Ellefson said he was excited to share his experiences on the road.

“I’ve approached my career as that of a musical warrior, always accompanied by my bass guitar. I eagerly anticipate bringing these songs back to the stage, while sharing introspective and entertaining anecdotes about their creation. It’s been a wild ride of low notes and high stakes!”

Coming along with him for the tour will be Italian guitarist and musical director, Andy Martongelli. Described as a “longtime friend and collaborator” of Ellefson’s, Martongelli was also involved in the bassist’s side projects, including Basstory, Ellefson-Soto, and Altitudes & Attitude.

Since a bassist and guitarist do not a tour make, they also recruited the talents of drummer Roberto Pirami (Michael Angelo Batio, Rowan Robertson, Gus G), vocalist Titta Tani (Ehfar, ex-drummer of Claudio Simonetti’s Goblin), and rhythm guitarist Walter Cianciusi (Geoff Tate band).

The tour will travel through the following dates, with more stops expected to be announced in the future. And of course, there should be a Metallica shirt watch at each stop along the way.
