Pantera’s Big Announcement is More North American Tour Dates
Hold onto your butts, because that big announcement Pantera was teasing over the weekend didn’t end up being a new album or a lineup change or anything like that. Nope, it was the most banal and obvious choice — more tour dates.
Yes, the show that’s trotting surviving members Philip H. Anselmo and Rex Brown out on stage with Zakk Wylde and Charlie Benante standing in for “Dimebag” Darrell Lance Abbott and Vinnie Paul respectively will be back next year. And just as they did over the summer, Lamb of God will be on hand as their “special guest,” with additional openers slated to be announced at a later date.
Set to kick off on February 3 in Sunrise, Florida and coming to a close on February 27 in Québec City, QC, Canada, this is your chance to catch the band if you missed their last run through the continent. Anselmo said he was stoked at the opportunity to keep the show going.
“Looking forward to jamming with everybody! These shows mean a lot and we aim to kick ass! Love y’all!”
These show dates are in addition to the band’s previously announced tour dates with Metallica on their M72 World Tour, which will take place in the summer months.
Having seen Pantera in Camden, New Jersey back in August, I can say that if you suspend your disbelief and just accept the show for what it is, it’s actually a good time. Getting to hear those songs live was awesome. But still, as good as Zakk is, he’s not Dimebag — and he’ll be the first to admit that. Still, it’s a great time.
Tickets will go on sale tomorrow for pre-sales and VIP upgrades at 10 a.m. local time, while the general sale will go live at 10 a.m. this Friday, November 17.
