Ex-Mr. Bungle Member Named Person of Interest in Girlfriend’s Disappearance

In headline news you definitely don’t see every day, one of the former members of Mr. Bungle is the person of interest in a disappearance case.

The El Cerrito Police Department has announced that they are investigating Alice “Alyx” Kamakaokalani Herrmann’s disappearance. The 61-year-old woman was residing in Capitola, CA.

The notification the police published placed her final whereabouts in Santa Cruz, CA on December 3. She was reported missing by her relatives on December 12 after she was MIA for a week. Her vehicle was found in front of the home of her boyfriend, 54-year-old Theobald “Theo” Brooks Lengyel in El Cerrito, CA.

“Herrmann is a 61-year-old Pacific Islander woman, 5’04” tall, weighing 135 pounds, with hazel eyes and brown hair. Lengyel is a 54-year-old white man, 5″10″, 170 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair.

“Investigators are looking for information about the actions of both Theo Lengyel and Alice Herrmann from December 3, 2023, to present. Anyone with information about either of these people are encouraged to contact the El Cerrito Police Department tip lines at (510) 215-4435 or [email protected].”

Lengyel is known in the metal world for playing saxophone, clarinet, and keyboards in Mr. Bungle from 1986 to 1995. He is on releases from The Raging Wrath Of The Easter Bunny in 1986 to Disco Volante in 1995.

There isn’t much more information other than that right now, but the police notice does say Lengyel is a person of interest in the disappearance case. Even more strange, it also sates he has “not cooperated with police investigation.” He was also allegedly found in Portland, OR, an out-of-state location he traveled to from his home in El Cerrito.

Our hearts go out to Herrmann’s family. Regardless of how the situation with Lengyel shakes out, we hope she is safe and found soon.
