K.K. Downing Revealed His ‘Worst’ Judas Priest Album

0

When you’ve got a career that spans decades, it’s pretty much guaranteed that there’s gonna be at least one stinker. With more than four decades under his belt, ex-Judas Priest and current KK’s Priest guitarist K.K. Downing‘s written plenty of music in his day. And while a good chunk of that has stood the test of time, he’s a realist.

While speaking with Classic Rock magazine, Downing almost begrudgingly admitted that Judas Priest’s 1981 album Point of Entry was a stinker in his mind.

“Jesus, I’ll have to go with [Judas Priest’s 1981 album] ‘Point Of Entry’. But then again there are some great songs on that one. That’s so, so hard to answer.”

Though the album doesn’t necessarily stand up to the likes of Screaming for Vengeance or Painkiller, it should be noted that Downing’s right when he says Point of Entry has some solid tunes. “Heading Out to the Highway,” “Hot Rockin’,” and “Desert Plains” come to mind as great songs that stand on their own.

But what about the best album he’s worked on, you ask? Naturally he said his newest one was the best. He’s out promoting it, after all.

“[Laughs] No apologies, I must pick my albums by KK’s Priest: Sermons Of The Sinner [2021] and the new one, Sinner Rides Again. They’re both very, very kick-ass and I’m proud of them both. They epitomize everything about me and who I am. They continue my legacy [with Judas Priest] and carry the hallmarks of the past.”

As you probably could have guessed, KK’s Priest is an offshoot of the legendary Judas Priest. Featuring Downing, the band is also comprised of former Judas Priest frontman Tim “Ripper” Owens, as well as guitarist A.K. Mills, Sean Elg on drums, and bassist Tony Newton.

The band’s most recent studio release The Sinner Rides Again released earlier this year via Napalm Records. Currently, the band has a U.S. headlining tour scheduled for early next year. You can find the full list of dates below.
