Leather Lung’s “Spit In The Casket” is the Perfect Soundtrack for a Beer-Soaked Rager, New Album Announced

What’s there not to love about the slow, fat, chuggy riffs? They’re the backbone to the everyman’s forms of metal — doom, sludge, and stoner, just to name a few. Because after all, sometimes you gotta leave the virtuosity for the pretentious and the tryhards. Armed with a Modelo in one hand and a middle finger in the other, Leather Lung are back to remind us of that fact with the release of their latest single “Spit In The Casket” and the reveal of their first full-length album Graveside Grin.

Set for release on March 15 via Magnetic Eye Records, the Boston-based five-piece already seem to be throwing down the gauntlet with this new track. I mean, seriously. Listen to the fucking song below and tell me you can keep yourself from nodding along. It’s just straight up, no frills, no bullshit and I’m fucking here for it.

Vocalist Mike Vickers says the track was specifically chosen as the album’s opening track and introductory single because of its unfuckwithable attitude.

“The opening track ‘Spit in the Casket’ is a middle finger in song form. It was written in the catharsis of leaving a toxic relationship. This song is dedicated to anyone that has ever disrespected you and lets them know that it won’t happen again. We play this track like we are kicking down your door with it. For that reason, we have chosen ‘Spit in the Casket’ as the first single and opening track off our new record Graveside Grin. This also happens to be our first full length release and first effort as a 5-piece band. It’s our beastly new form and we’re showing teeth. So better stay on our good side and blast the newest single as loud as it goes!”

It also helps that despite the fact that we’re in the throes of winter, the accompanying music video directed by Caleb Gowett has got that middle-of-July beer soaked, weed-hazed rager feel down pat.
