Alice in Chains Tease Something Ahead of 30th Anniversary of Jar of Flies

0

This coming Monday marks the 30th anniversary of Alice in ChainsJar of Flies EP and it looks like the Seattle-based grunge band has something brewing for that date. They made that much painfully obvious by posting an image on their Instagram with the date and an image with a buncha flies on it. It’s not exactly subtle.

As things go for bands celebrating major milestones, this could mean many things. Maybe they’ve simply got a super cool reissue about to drop this Monday. Maybe there’s some special merch in line too. But what I’m really hoping for are some shows to mark the occasion. If you’ve never seen Alice in Chains live, even with William Duvall behind the mic for the last 18 or so years, you really owe it to yourself.

Though not as mammoth a release as Dirt or their MTV Unplugged album, Jar of Flies has some absolute bangers on it. Songs like “No Excuses,” “I Stay Away,” and “Nutshell” debuted on this EP. It’s also got the distinction of debuting on No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart back in 1994 and being nominated for a pair of GRAMMY Awards in 1995.

Whatever they have planned, it’ll be the perfect excuse to don some flannel and play some Alice in Chains.
