Necrot Release New Single “Drill the Skull”

0

Earlier this month, death metal trio Necrot announced their forthcoming full-length album Lifeless Birth would be released on April 12 via Tankcrimes. It’ll be their first release since 2020’s Mortal, so of course excitement’s been high ever since.

Earlier today, the band felt it was necessary to bludgeon us over the head with a heavy new tune called “Drill The Skull.” If anyone knows anything about old medical history, trepanning — or the practice of drilling a hole in one’s head — is one of the oldest procedures people have done to one another. And depending on when it happened, you either had a really good chance of surviving it, or it was really a coin toss.

According to bassist, vocalist, and “principal songwriter” Luca Indrio, the song’s not exactly about the ancient practice of drilling a hole in your noodle. Nah, it’s more than that.

“‘Drill The Skull’ is a filthy, sexy, mid-tempo song. You’re going to want to bang your head and at the same time go home and take a shower because this song is nasty as fuck. It talks about how stupid we all are and how superficial today’s society is. We got to the point that we don’t even remember exactly when we all became so dumb and superficial, but here we are! It’s 2024 and we got no brain and it’s fucking great, isn’t it? ‘Drill The Skull’ is the perfect soundtrack for our failing world and at the same time it could easily be the entrance theme for a WWE wrestler about to fuck shit up. Enjoy the filthy riffs!”

Coupled with the album’s debut single “Cut The Cord,” it’s looking like Lifeless Birth is going to be a fucking banger. You can check out the full videos for both of these songs down below.

Lifeless Birth will be available on April 12 via Tankcrimes, but you can preorder your copy on vinyl, CD, cassette, and digitally today.
