New Pallbearer Album Mind Burns Alive Coming this May, North American Tour Announced

Who’s ready to feel sad? Because that’s the most likely common sentiment most people will have after listening to the newly announced Pallbearer record, Mind Burns Alive. Set for release on May 17 via Nuclear Blast Records, this is sure to be one of the more interesting new metal releases of 2024.

Originally supposed to be released back in 2020, the band says a number of setbacks including the pandemic pushed it all the way back to this year. Despite all that, the band self-produced the album in their own studio after members of the band once again found themselves and their loved ones relocating near Little Rock, Arkansas for the first time in nine years.

Vocalist and guitarist Brett Campbell said the new record basically removes all the bells and whistles Pallbearer’s added to its tunes over the years to create a more stripped down version of things.

“These songs are a deeper exploration of dynamics and sonic color than anything we have done up to this point. I’m of the belief that true heaviness comes from emotional weight, and sometimes sheer bludgeoning isn’t the right approach to getting a feeling across.”

In an effort to show exactly what that all means, Pallbearer released the album’s cheerily named first single, “Where The Light Fades,” which Campbell described as “vignettes that tell the stories of people who deal with myriad sicknesses of the spirit… illnesses communicated by the world we live in, and the subjects are the symptoms of the disease.”

See? Happy music…

Along with all of that, the band also has an extensive North American tour lined up. Set to kick off on Jun 6, the ‘Temporary Spaces North American Tour’ will be the band’s most extensive trek in years, spanning six weeks when it’s all said and done. Openers will be Rwake, REZN, Inter Arma on various dates, while The Keening will be on the entire run.

Tickets will go on sale this Friday at 10 a.m. local time. For the full list of dates, as well as all the details on the new record, be sure to scroll down past the video.
