The Summer Slaughter Tour to Announce Dates Later This Month

0

We’ve officially reached the point where an announcement of an upcoming announcement is news, but we’re also at the point in our society where there are previews for upcoming trailers so I guess nothing matters anymore. The Summer Slaughter Tour, which is gearing up for its first incarnation since the pandemic, announced that the full lineup of bands and dates would be coming on April 22 in a recent Instagram post.

The Instagram account has been slowly teasing information, with a post a few weeks announcing the tour will take place over July and August in US and Canada. On March 27, the account posted a series of state and national flags, which is believed to be the locations where the lineup of bands hails from. There were seven flags: Alabama, Illinois, Georgia (state), Ontario, Slovenia, France, and Denmark. The flags have led to a lot of speculation over which bands have been booked.

The comments section on the post saw multiple mentions of Sumerian records, with multiple commenters praying that the festival isn’t stacked with too many bands from the well-known label. Sumerian denied the rumors, however, writing in the comments section:

“everybody thinks we got so many bands on the bill but it’s fake news  i tell ya. but maybe we should sign one of the support acts?”

This seems to be a joke, as Sumerian Records is a regular sponsor of the tour, and the two posts teasing the upcoming dates and bands were collaboration posts between Summer Slaughter and Sumerian Records. Many are predicting The Faceless for the tour, however that band doesn’t correspond with any of the flags that have been announced. While this would seem to be the wrong subgenre of metal for the famously progressive metal tour, it should be noted that Sumerian Records has one band that corresponds with a revealed flag, is putting out a new album this year, and hasn’t announced any tour dates for July and August yet, and that’s Kittie. Even as I write that, I think to myself “They wouldn’t do that, right?”
