Underoath to Mark 20th Anniversary of They’re Only Chasing Safety with Huge Tour

0

Two decades is a long ass time and I don’t know about you, but I’m feeling pretty fucking old with this announcement. Moments ago, influential metalcore outfit Underoath announced that they’re going to be touring North America, Europe, and the U.K. to commemorate the 20th anniversary of They’re Only Chasing Safety. Twenty years.

According to the band, they’ll be performing the album in its entirety, along with a special fan-voted set every single night. Set to kick off on June 1 in Fort Worth, Texas and coming to an end on December 13 in Tampa, Florida, the tour will be pretty extensive, though there will be some breaks for the band in July and August.

Speaking of the announcement, the band said they were excited to do something they’d never attempted before.

“Twenty. Years. This is going to be like nothing we’ve ever done. They’re Only Chasing Safety in full every night plus another set of songs voted on by each city. Every song from every album over the past 20 years will be on the table. Let’s get nuts.”

Tickets for the tour will go on sale this Friday, April 19 at 10 a.m. local time. There will also be a number of presales tomorrow and Thursday. The band will also have special VIP packages available from tomorrow at 10 a.m. local time until Friday, April 19 at 9:30 a.m. local time at their tour page.

According to the band, these special VIP packages will include: “one GA ticket; a conversation with Underoath in which they will answer fan questions, tell stories, and discuss the impact of They’re Only Chasing Safety on their career; an informal hang with the band and individual photo with the full band; a VIP-exclusive 20th Anniversary edition of They’re Only Chasing Safety on vinyl; a 24-page, full color, standard-sized They’re Only Chasing Safety comic book by Sumerian Comics; and merchandise shopping prior to doors opening to the public. Both the vinyl and the comic book will be shipped to VIPs prior to the tour.”

So if all of that sounds like a good time for you, be sure not to miss out on this run of dates. You only get one 20th anniversary, after all.
