Melvins Give a Behind-the-Scenes Look at Tarantula Heart with ‘Making Of’ Video

0

Starting tomorrow, the world will finally get to hear the entirety of the Melvins‘ latest full-length offering, Tarantula Heart. Just like with most of the band’s releases, this one’s a unique ride that only they can effectively pull off. And while this new slab of tunes is bolstered by the inclusion of Ministry’s Roy Mayorga and We Are The Asteroid’s Gary Chester, this newly released “Making Of” video posted earlier today shows exactly how things came together for this new record.

In the past, Buzz Osborne explained that Tarantula Heart was a new experience for the band that’s been around for the last four decades.

“The way we approached Tarantula Heart was different than any other Melvins’ album. I had Dale and Roy Mayorga of Ministry come in and play along with Steven and I to some riffs, then I took those sessions and figured out what parts would work and wrote new music to fit. This isn’t a studio approach we’ve ever taken. Usually we have the songs written BEFORE we start recording!”

Rather than get too into the weeds about its making, I’ll just let the guys showcase exactly what went into the album with the video below. Tarantula Heart will be released tomorrow via Ipecac Recordings, though you can preorder your copy today.

Tarantula Heart track list:

1.    Pain Equals Funny
2.    Working the Ditch
3.    She’s Got Weird Arms
4.    Allergic to Food
5.    Smiler
