Slipknot’s New Drummer May Have Been Identified By a Buncha Internet Nerds

0

There are mere days before Slipknot debuts their new drummer live at Sick New World, but some savvy internet sleuths may have already identified who the mystery man behind the kit is well before a single note is ever played. And all it apparently took was a few clicks and some basic coding knowledge.

According to a post on Reddit by user tmt1983, a quick look into the source code of Slipknot’s “You Can’t Kill Me” website revealed a list of image files with every band member’s name on it, but one stood out — eloy.jpg. Now, there’s no Eloy currently in the band and a certain now former Sepultura drummer named Eloy Casagrande recently quit his respective band to focus on “new cycles that will come,” so it’s not hard to connect the dots here.

Another thing to note is the fact that there’s another image called jeff.jpg, which internet detectives believe might be Jeff Karnowski, who’s involved in a side project with Shawn “Clown” Crahan called Dirty Little Rabbits. If he’s involved, then we may also know who’s replacing Craig Jones, too.

Now, I’m not going to go into detail about how to find all this information for yourself because frankly, it all looks like gibberish and moon runes to me. But if you’re interested in replicating the little Easter egg hunt for yourself, you can follow the instructions over on that Reddit post.

This all seems too easy. I’m not shocked that someone involved in making the website wasn’t creative enough to make some fake file name like “mustardman.jpg” or something to at least hide the new members’ names, but hear me out — this Reddit user created their account yesterday and only posted this one thing. That’s not necessarily weird for Reddit, since people make throwaway accounts all the time, but that just begs the question — could this be Slipknot trying to throw us off the scent? Could it just be a fake out to get us to think it’s one person when it’s really someone else? Is Lars Ulrich the new Slipknot drummer!?

We’ll get final confirmation about all of it this Saturday when Slipknot takes the stage. It’s only a matter of time now.
