What Could Slipknot Be Hinting at with Their New Billboard and Website?

0

A stark black billboard with Slipknot‘s logo on it has popped up in the Indio, California and it’s got fans of the long-running nu metal band wondering what the hell it all means. Posted on social media and Reddit yesterday, pictures of the the billboard show that it has things like “One Night Only” and “Long May You Die” printed on either side.

Now, we know the band’s got some exciting things coming up soon, from the unveiling of a new drummer to their plans to tour Europe later this year to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their self-titled debut album, but there’s not a whole lot other than that. Even more interesting is when you go to the website posted on the bottom part of the billboard, it ends up looking like something straight out of the 90s with a scrolling message that says “pay attention… the answers are all around you…” Spooky.

Given what we know about the billboard, its location at the site of Coachella cannot be a coincidence. Then given what Slipknot percussionist Shawn “Clown” Crahan said recently about there being new music this year (but not a new album) and not next, we might be looking at some special live event to commemorate the new tunes maybe? Or maybe they’ll give the U.S. the first crack at an anniversary show after all, which would be cool given what Crahan also said during a recent interview.

“Yeah, we’re going to play that album from beginning to end. But I sure as hell am not going to just succumb to the corporate world and give all those people what they want. They’re going to get it. But you know what we’re going to get? We’re going to have fun, too.

“So that means small shows and you won’t know until you hear it. And if you heard it, you’re already too late and you’re not going to see it. So you better open up your soul, because then you’ll feel it and you won’t have to hear it because I’m being very serious.”

Whatever it ends up being, I’m sure we’ll find out soon enough. So tell us, Slipknot fans — what do you think it is and what do you hope it is? Let us know in the comments.
