Kittie Unveil Their First Album in 13 Years, Drop New Single “Vultures”

We’ve all heard the singles, we’ve all known they were busy in the studio, and now the Canadian metal act Kittie have finally announced their new album, Fire. Set to release on June 21 via Sumerian Records, it’s the band’s first full-length album in 13 years.

To mark the occasion, they dropped a new single titled “Vultures,” the music video of which features live footage from their performance at Sick New World in Las Vegas late last month.

Speaking on the new album and the band’s revitalization, vocalist and guitarist Morgan Lander said this was something that the band previously thought would be impossible to pull off just a few short years ago.

“10 years ago, if someone would have told us that we would be releasing new Kittie music in 2024, we’d have dismissed them right away. It feels like something deeper than fate that’s brought us together again, allowing us to create something fearless and magical for you. We’ve worked incredibly hard over the past year, and surrounded ourselves with the ultimate dream team to make this album a reality. We cannot wait for you to lose yourselves in the passion and strength of Fire.”

Yet thanks to the nostalgic turn that metal’s taken in recent years for the late 90s and early 2000s, it seems like the atmosphere was primed for Kittie’s return. Their previous two singles “Eyes Wide Open” and “We Are Shadows” are pretty damn good and “Vultures” continues that trend.

Lander said the new track effectively represents the band putting their foot down and reminding the world that they’re back.

“Vultures is a bold musical declaration, signalling our new beginnings as a band. Vultures is a warning to those with hidden agendas, who thrive on deception. It’s a proclamation of breaking free of the chains of exploitation and a reckoning for those who pick at the bones of those who suffer in silence.”

Fire will be released on June 21 via Sumerian Records, but you can preorder your copy today. You can also catch the band live at a handful of exclusive headlining gigs, listed below.
