Gene Simmons Called Out for “Creepy” Behavior as Guest Judge on Dancing With the Stars

As we recently reported, Kiss bassist and co-vocalist Gene Simmons is perfectly okay with people calling him an asshole. That’s good, because a lot of people are doing just that after Simmons appeared as a guest judge on popular ABC dance competition show Dancing With the Stars.

Simmons was a guest judge on Tuesday’s episode of the show, according to Forbes, as the theme for the night was “hair metal night.” Apparently Simmons repeatedly commented on female competitor’s appearances in creepy ways, and many fans on social media noted that he was only giving good scores to couples where Simmons found the woman attractive. Others also accused him of racism, pointing out that he had a tendency to score lower on people of color, particularly Phaedra Parks who he gave a low score to despite not giving her any negative comments.

Some examples of his inappropriate comments included when he told actor Reginald VelJohnson that he’s “got a beautiful woman right beside you who can twist it and turn it and knows how to move it.” He also told 24-year-old actress Chandler Kinney that she “fogged up my glasses” and that she “moved me—not just with your gyrations, but with your beautiful face.” Ew.

Simmons hasn’t made any statement about the backlash to his comments and, frankly, I’d be surprised if he did.
