Dimmu Borgir Recruit Chrome Division’s Kjell “Damage” Karlsen as New Guitarist
Last August, symphonic black metal band Dimmu Borgir learned that their guitarist of the last 25 years Tom Rune Andersen Orre (a.k.a. Galder) was leaving the band to revive Old Man’s Child. It was an unexpected turn of events and one that left the band without a lead guitarist.
With the band now working on their follow up to 2018’s Eonian, they’ve announced via social media that they’re once again made whole, thanks to the addition of Chrome Division frontman Kjell “Damage” Karlsen as Galder’s replacement. Adding Karlsen to the band doesn’t seem like much of a stretch when you remember that Dimmu Borgir vocalist Shagrath is also a member of Chrome Divison.
In the band’s statement, they expressed their excitement over what Karlsen can add to the group.
“We’re excited to proudly welcome Damage to the team, and we’re all looking forward to sharing the stage with him this summer and onwards. It’s already been a pleasure working and rehearsing with Damage over the last couple of months and we hope that you, the fans, will join us in welcoming him to the line up!”
Dimmu Borgir has already performed live with Damage, having played at the Tons of Rock festival in Oslo, Norway over the weekend. You can check out some of the footage below.
