No Foreplay Necessary for Intercourse’s Noisy New Single “Cryptid Divorce Court”
With their new album How I Fell In Love With The Void releasing in nine days’ time, Connecticut noise rock band Intercourse dropped a frenetic new single that doesn’t fuck around but doesn’t overstay its welcome, either.
“Cryptid Divorce Court” is a minute long mental breakdown that goes through some real shit. Vocalist Tarek Ahmed explains:
“This was the last song I finished lyrics for on the album. It has the unfortunate honor of being the first break-up ‘woe is me with my broken heart’ song. I literally just wrote down what was on my mind and called it a day. Divorce isn’t as fun as TV makes it out to be.”
Featuring 10 new tracks, Intercourse’s new album takes metallic hardcore and jams it straight down the throat of corrosive noise rock. What sets this album from the band’s previous works is the attention to detail.
Ahmed, for example, said there were multiple times where he wrote lyrics over and over again until they got it right.
“I f*cking wrote my ass off, and then I do this thing about two months out where I’m like, ‘Everything I wrote sucks, so I’m going to rewrite all the lyrics.’ Then a month before recording, my wife and I decided to split, so I tried to punch up the lyrics and make them funnier by throwing some divorce stuff in there. But I think I made it more depressing.”
How I Fell In Love With The Void will be released on September 12, but you can preorder your copy today.
