Foo Fighters Play First Show with New Drummer Ilan Rubin

0

Everyone’s favorite fighters, those of the foo variety, had a bit of a surprise for fans last week. Late on Friday, September 12, the Foo Fighters announced a surprise all-ages show at a big venue, marking it as the band’s first official performance with their new drummer Ilan Rubin.

The performance in question took place last night (Saturday, September 13), at the Fremont Theater in San Luis Obispo, California. Foo’s frontman Dave Grohl introduced Rubin excitedly:

“Everybody else has said it, and I finally get the opportunity to say, ‘Ladies and gentlemen, will you please welcome…’ The most badass motherfucker, Ilan Rubin, is playing drums in the Foo Fighters right now. It’s official. You can stamp the passport.”

For whatever reason, they kinda made this show hard as all hell to attend. Besides announcing it last minute, tickets didn’t go on sale until 8 a.m. Saturday morning at the venue only. Customers weren’t allowed to line up earlier than 7 a.m., and they couldn’t buy tickets for anyone who wasn’t present during the purchase. You could only pay by credit card card (not even like Apple or Google Pay, you straight up had to have the physical card like we travelled back in time), and you could only enter the venue with a legit physical ID. Good goddamn. I got exhausted just having to type all that.

Rubin has drummed for hella bands, but he’s most recently known for playing with Nine Inch Nails.
