Fister Have Got a 10″ Package for You
If you order their new EP, that is.

Fister are a bunch of grumbly, lovable curmudgeons from Saint Louis that play ridiculously heavy, nihilistic sludgy doom and keep their tongues firmly in cheek whilst they’re at it. The first time I met them and was aurally brutalized by their massive, discordant riffs, they gave me a handful of stickers that read, “If it’s too loud, you’re too young,” and a shirt with a portrait of Charles Bronson superimposed onto the Bathory goat (it read “Bronsonic Invocation” on the back). Their first demo was called ‘Fisted Sister.’ Clearly, these dudes aren’t taking themselves nearly as seriously as they take their music, and that’s one reason I love them so dearly. They’re also insane when it comes to packaging, and their latest release is the culmination of years of vinyl nerdery and aesthetic obsession.

Gogomagical Records are reissuing Fister’s ‘Violence’ EP on 10” vinyl, and have made it available on five gorgeously marbled colors. Each record comes graced with corresponding artwork from a different artist, and the overall package is just beautiful. I went for the black, white, and lavender version. Check it out here.

Now here’s how to play it once you’ve got it in your sweaty little hands. Pay attention! [This video is actually for “The Infernal Paramount,” from a different album the band released earlier in 2012. -Ed.]

And if you can’t be bothered with any of that, stream the whole damn thing here, and purchase the mp3s if you’re not a Luddite.
