New Fear Factory Vocalist to be Announced February

The whole “will he/won’t he” scenario when it comes to Dino Cazares unveiling Fear Factory‘s new vocalist has an apparent end date. During a recent interview with The Jasta Show, as transcribed by Metal Injection, the Fear Factory guitarist revealed that the band’s newest addition will be revealed this coming February, which will only be more than two years after Burton C. Bell quit the band.

According to Cazares, the plan is to release a new single with the singer just prior to them hitting the road with Static-X in 2023. He also said that they’d originally planned to do all this earlier this year, but the tour got postponed and the decision was made to put a hold on the announcement.

“It’s just a lot of development, man. Fear Factory is precious to a lot of people and I’m gonna make sure [the announcement is done] right. I wanted to release some tracks a while ago with the singer, but then I had [no touring] behind it. So the hype was going to die down quick.

“I wanted to do it around the tour so that way you got something to work, and I just didn’t want to release his name too quick because then… no one is gonna care by the time I release a track a year later. I want it all to be done together.”

Later in the interview, Cazares was asked who he’d love to have front Fear Factory and he without hesitation said Faith No More/Mr. Bungle singer Mike Patton, which seems to be a common feeling if you ask Scott Ian. (Duh.)

“The number one guy would be Mike Patton. If Mike Patton said ‘hey, I’m singing for you guys,’ [I’d say] ‘okay.’ There’s no hesitation at all, whatsoever. He’s one of those guys that can do it all, and you know it’s gonna be exciting, charismatic – you know it’s gonna be interesting every night.”
