Malthusian Signs to Relapse Records, New Single “The Summoning Bell” Out Now
Today, rising Irish doom metal band Malthusian has shared their obliterating new single “The Summoning Bell.” The track marks the beginning of a new chapter for the group, as they’ve just signed with Relapse Records, whose other clients include Cave In, Obituary, and Pentagram.
Up until today, it’s been exactly a decade since Malthusian graced us all with a brand-new single. Out now, “The Summoning Bell” is their latest instalment and is the title track of their forthcoming record.
Speaking about the new release, their frontman MB, commented, “We always find something… to give us the impression we exist.”
The track is accompanied by an oddly simplistic yet mysterious black and white video. Following their 2015 release “Below the Hengiform,” it’s exciting to see that the group has gotten progressively heavier. I’m intrigued to find out what this new album will bring, following their marginally smaller, but brutal projects Across Deaths (2018) and Time’s Withering Shadow (2022).
The Summoning Bell comes out via Relapse Records on August 8, but you can pre-order it here.
