Green Jellÿ Fired Michael “Fr33to F33t” Snyder Over Tasteless Ozzy Osbourne Meme
We’re usually not ones to complain that a dark joke or tasteless humor was “too soon” around here, but a recent post on social media from someone in Green Jellÿ’s camp not only pissed off a lot of people, but ultimately resulted in that person getting fired.
In the immediate aftermath of Ozzy Osbourne’s death this past July 22, the metal, rock, and entertainment worlds were left reeling. But that didn’t stop long-time Green Jellÿ collaborator Michael “Fr33to F33t” Snyder. The post in question showed an AI-generated meme of Ozzy holding up a sign that read “One Day Sober”. You know, because he’s dead.
Apparently, that didn’t float too well with people, as the image sparked an outcry so loud that Green Jellÿ founder Bill Manspeaker got online to delete the post in question and updates fans on Snyder’s place with the band.
“Long story short… I allowed a green jello member control of my green jello page… He’s been doing a excellent job posting funny memes for years… Recently he posted a extremely rude video about Ozzy Dying that I found highly offensive & I immediately took it down…the guy lost his mind & instantly started to demonize me on Facebook… Now it’s gotten beyond the point of non stop harassment,”
However, leaked texts between the two showed that Manspeaker apparently wanted to keep Snyder around, but things took a turn for the worse and his hand was forced. According to a video from Staunch TV, more allegations emerged that showed Snyder making fun of Manspeaker, making threats, and pushing for more public criticism.
Manspeaker’s statement also explained how Snyder hadn’t been pulling his own weight in the band. Eventually, the whole thing came to a matter of honoring Ozzy’s legacy and saving his image.
“This person decided to defame Ozzy with a terrible joke about his death on my green jello social media page & I removed it…ask yourself 1 thing—who is the real issue…the guy who has no respect for a man’s death and mocked Ozzy or the guy who immediately took it down because it was disrespectful?”
