Tool’s Danny Carey and Adam Jones Jammed Out in Front of 70,000 Boxing Fans
Over the weekend, one of the biggest boxing matches of the year not involving a Paul brother or Mike Tyson took place with the Canelo vs. Crawford bout. It was huge, drawing more than 70,000 to Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium. In a rather unexpected turn of events, organizers had Tool‘s Adam Jones and Danny Carey jam out for more than a minute prior to the main event and it was as weird as you’d expect.
Don’t take my word for it, just check out the clip below. The two run headfirst into a sort of weird jam session where Carey does what he does and Jones does what he does. It’s just rolling drum rhythms, punchy guitar riffs, and even some guitar sliding action for you freaks out there.
The whole thing was streamed on Netflix, which was pretty cool since it got the guys in front of an audience that may not actually follow Tool on the regular. Ultimately, the super middleweight title fight between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford resulted in the latter fighter winning via unanimous decision, which is always the least exciting way for a boxing match to end if I’m being honest.
As for Tool, we know they’re working on new material since Jones says he’s got “lots of riffs” to work with and Maynard’s gone on to say they’ll begin working in earnest next year.
