NEVERMORE HAVE THE BEST HAIR IN METAL THAT ISN’T HAIR METAL

Nevermore

Let’s get some love for Pacific Northwest metallers Nevermore around here. The first time I saw these guys was at the first Gigantour (‘04?), and it was quite the spectacle — five dudes with hair below their asses windmilling in perfect unison. Nevermore deserves so much credit for being an American band forging ahead with the European style of metal in the late ’90s when literally NO ONE would touch it this side of the Atlantic, other than an underground nation of Doom 3-playing, Magic card-toting teenage geeks. Thankfully they made it through those darkest of times and forged the way for new bands like Into Eternity to carry the torch.

Nevermore – “Final Product”
Nevermore – “The Psalm of Lydia”
Nevermore – “Narcosynthesis”
Nevermore – “The River Dragon Has Come”
Nevermore – “Dreaming Neon Black”

The following video for “Voyager” from their 2003 release Enemies of Reality gives a pretty good flavor of the band. And those finger-spike thingies; oh my, where do I get my pair of those?

you said a lot of true things there. I don’t like all of their stuff but they have AMAZING moments.

I have long liked Nevermore, but I’ve never seen a video until this moment. Great guitarists for sure.

On the topic of guys with long hair headbanging, watch the fuck out for Brian Fair from Shadows Fall. When I saw him at Sounds of the Underground, the crowd collectively went HOLY SHIT when he started windmilling in the middle of the first song.

Getting hit in the face with one of those dreadlocks would be like getting whipped with a bigass rope. They’re goddamn menacing. You don’t realize how goddamn long they are till he starts whipping them around his head.

I’m guessing getting hit in the face with a rope strand from Brian Fair would not only cause a rope burn, but a grease fire to go with it.

Hey now, watch it. “NO ONE would touch it this side of the Atlantic, other than an underground nation of Doom 3-playing, Magic card-toting teenage geeks.”

Ah yes, I remember hearing Nevermore for the first time on the Century Media compilation Identity 2. Not their best song, but they did make a video for “What tomorrow knows” way back in the day…who ever saw that but me and a few Germans?

Don’t forget Warrell Dane’s first band, Sanctuary. Their first album was produced by Dave Mustaine and still sounds great. Particularly the cover of “White Rabbit.”

The guy is pretty damn ugly, but he’s had as impressive a career so far as I’ve seen in Metal. I hope Nevermore goes on evermore.

  7. [...] I read it every now and then. Those guys write interesting articles, such as this one talking about band member’s hair. Oh, and remember to come back to Metal-Music-Videos.Com as well! There is a great competition to [...]

Oh yes, I almost forgot to mention hair…Sanctuary yes. Such hair then too! Warrell must have bought stock in Pantene years ago.

    Oh such hair!

Ok one more, last one I promise! Check out Warrel looking like Sting in the movie Dune in the “Believe in Nothing” video!
