NEW GENERIC METALCORE FROM HASTE THE DAY

haste the day

I’m not really a fan of Haste the Day, Christian music, or Christian metalcore — but I have to hand it to Haste the Day for writing one of the tastiest riffs metalcore has ever seen (“Pressure the Hinges,” off the album of the same name). It was of interest to me, then, when MetalSucks Maniac Matteo Boxy alerted us to the fact that the band has a new song called “68″ up on their MySpace.

Sadly it isn’t as enjoyable as “Pressure the Hinges” (the song, not the album) and there’s nary a new idea here, but if you like this kind of thing you’ll probably go nuts for it. Though there’s a certain riff in the breakdown at the end that’s pretty damn tasty (you’ll know it when you hear it).

The band’s new album Dreamer drops October 14th on Solid State.

I’m not a big metalcore fan either, but HTD has written some pretty bitching riffs, especially on their older albums

    Christ for the win.

You need to post the question: What band you like that everybody else hates?
… just so I can say “Haste the Day”. I think these guys are pretty good.

I loved Pressure the Hinges and When Everything Falls, but this new song just strikes me as…meh. Maybe it’s because I find that after they switched singers I’m not a big fan of the new scream and would prefer he just sing the majority of their songs(Stitches, The Minor Prophets, etc)

I still take it over Originality Hunter, As I Have 4 Good Songs, and The Chariot(yea…not much I can do with that one) any day.

    Trenches>this band

It’s the old singer’s new band, it’s kinda sludgy, a lot more creative

I agree with Ian. A lot of metal fans don’t like HTD (or at least the ones that comment on forums). I’m a fan of their work but this song is kinda lack luster.

  7. Joe A. says:

Seriously how many bands are needed for fully ripping off modern era In Flames.

Oh wait, I guess this is original because they like money… uhm, I meant Christ.

In America there’s little difference anyway.

  8. Gabexmosh says:

These dud- douches actually kicked one of their members out because he decided he wasn’t into Jesus anymore. I laughed all day.

  9. Phro says:

I love how bored the crowd looks in the picture at the top of their myspace page.

The question now is… What’s more boring: Christians or their music?
