CHIMAIRA BUST MORE THAN JUST HYMENS

I’ve never seen the show Mythbusters before, but its premise seems fairly self-explanatory. MetalSucks maniac and fellow Chimaira lovah Ray Pecheone sent me this clip from a recent episode about the effects of talking to and playing different kinds of music for plants. At around the 1:12 mark, they play “Pure Hatred,” which, I imagine, would make the plants very angry and imbue them with an insatiable desire to mosh. let’s just hope it doesn’t inspire a Day of the Trepids-style plant uprising.

Slow news day? Yes. Yes, it is. But as Ray put it, “‘Pure Hatred’ on national television makes me happy.”

” ‘Pure Hatred’ on National T.V makes me happy”

why are you so surprised?? when Chimaira made a video for it, they ran it on MTV2 & Fuse nonstop.

  • RayRay

True but really viewer wise? Not everyone gets fuse. MTV 2 and Fuse only run on digital cable as far as I know.

“they ran it on MTV2 & Fuse nonstop.”

    hahah, sure they did

and if you mean “recent” as in from like 3-4 years ago, then ok

what the video doesn’t tell you is that the plants that listened to metal kicked the shit outta all the other ones, they grew like 3 inches taller and had bigger veggies on them.
Yes im an uber-dork and an avid watcher of mythbusters and all things discovery channel.
So kids tell your mom that if you wanna grow up to be big and tall, fuck wheaties gimme some chimaira!

Music scientists found that heavy metal shares direct relations with classical music in how the brain is effected while listening.

“Pure Hatred” just plain makes me happy.

It’s actually “Day of the Triffids”. Not “Day of the Trepids”. But I’m just nitpicking

  • RaZZo

    Damn, Matt. y’beat me.

Yeah that “Day of the Trepids” keyword probably isn’t drawing too many searches to the post.

Maybe you were thinking “Flight of the Intrepid”????

I’ve never actually heard that before, although it does make sense. I’d like to see an actual study done where they have 3 groups of students. 1 group is the control with no music. 1 group listens to Bach. And 1 group listens to some Kataklysm and they see which group does the best on a test.
