SO, THE NEW SLIPKNOT VIDEO…

“Dead Memories” was initially one of my least favorite songs on All Hope is Gone, the latest from Slipknot (which we’re giving away right now!), but it grew on me – I like that little dip the guitar does during the chorus.

I basically like the band’s new video, too – Slipknot are nothing if not a visual band and I generally think they make good videos – but I have no fucking idea what’s going on here. The tone is kind of inconsistent – it’s amusing but not really funny, creepy but not really scary – and… well… I guess Corey Taylor’s dead memories all have to do with chicks in their underwear. Which, come to think of it, doesn’t make him all that different from most dudes.

    Yes, I concur. When he tries to push off the big guy was pretty funny though.

    i actually liked the video. It was cool because it showed Cory Taylor transferring through each of the band members’ own personal domain/personalities (at least that’s what I’ve gathered). At times I found it a little bit much, but the video definitely gives you better insight into each member of the band.

    I love this song.

    But I must say, I think the video is a huge disappointment. It’s not bad…just nothing really special.

    It also baffles me to no end why, since the release of Vol.3, almost all of their singles have random parts cut from them. It’s not like the extra 7 seconds of intro would’ve killed this song on radio.

    As a confirmed video hater, I actually like this one.

    I think we’re seeing the convergence of Stone Sour and Slipknot. As someone who prefers the former to the latter (better songwriting IMO), I am okay with this. Slipknot does retain some of its Slipknotness, however, which is also a good thing.

    Everytime they put something up, you can’t view it from anywhere but the us…

    This song is lame! I had read an interview with Slipknot before the Mayhem Fest, when there were talks of them not headlining. Someone (not sure which mask) went on to say, “Slipknot is the best metal band that ever lived, so if we’re not going to headline, we just won’t play”. Man, fuck that and Fuck this sing… They should have been taking tickets at Mayhem, so people could get in quicker to see Mastodon!

    I’m more than just a little disappointed with this song being released as the second single off the album, it’s one of my least favorite songs on the album. I usually skip over it, the video didn’t improve my opinion. I also have to say I hate Corey’s new mask. The old one was f’in evil but this is just kinda gay.
