IT’S NOT TOO EARLY TO GET EXCITED ABOUT PAGANFEST ’09: ELUVEITIE HAVE RELEASED A NEW SONG!

Last week Vince told y’all about the 2nd annual, MetalSucks sponsored Paganfest USA, which will, once again, include the testicle-burstingly awesome Eluveitie. That Switzerland’s best pagan metal band (or possibly just band, period) is coming back to the States for another run of drunken raping and pillaging should be enough to get your blood pressure up, but in case, for some bizarre reason, it ain’t, the band has now released a new song, “Omnos,” on their MySpace page.

Like all the tracks on the band’s forthcoming album, Evocation I: The Arcane Dominion, the song is actually an old folk tune written entirely in gaulish. Which is not to be confused with goulash. Yum.

Speaking of goulash: What I really dig about the track is that, like Turisas’ version of “Rasputin,” it has a really Russian night club vibe in it. The only time I’ve ever seen my old man got so drunk he puked was in a Russian night club, so, y’know, good times. Good times.

Evocation I: The Arcane Dominion April 11 on Nuclear Blast.

Hot damn… considering that the new album is going to be mostly acoustic, that was really good. Can’t wait for the new album!

  • Hot Carl

Are you kidding? I didn’t know the fellowship of the ring was recording. The orcs must be pissed.

  • wow

Just because it’s imported doesn’t mean its good. Just look at Heineken beer and Eluveitie… they both suck. But since they don’t sell any records, none of these tools who base their opinion on how successful the band is (whether they are mainstream or underground) will bash them. It’s a shame that artists aren’t judged on the merits of their music. Just as wide appeal doesn’t mean the band is great, neither does being an underground band. How people like this shit is beyond me. I enjoy many different kinds of music, but this is bullshit.

Orcs? Sounds like there’s a troll here though.
‘This is bullshit’? Give me a break with the conspiracy nonsense. People might actually like Eluveitie’s music – imagine that. It’s not such a crazy notion that someone like me – who listens to melodic death metal and folk music – might get something out of it.
I think Slania is a fantastic album, regardless of what it sells. One of the most exciting metal albums of last year in my opinion. You don’t like it? Tough shit, doesn’t make it fact and the people that do ‘tools’.
    Well trolled.

Eluveitie are an awesome band and you are talking complete and utter bollocks. I’m finding it hard to believe you’re even talking about the same band as me here, they’re that good.

I’d rather they weren’t doing a fully acoustic album though, but I’m sure it will still be excellent.

Only seems right that I chime in on behalf of my namesake…Eluveitie is far and away my favorite central/southern European folk metal band, one of the best European bands not playing death or black metal. I am concerned about the acoustic album, particularly the fact it will be a double album…if it’s bad, that’s a lot of bad. I think they can pull it off though, they haven’t let me down to this point. I did enjoy Spirit better than Slania, that’s just personal preference but I hope that this downward trend for me, however slight, doesn’t continue with the next album. That being said, I’ll still definitely be rocking out to some Eluveitie come St. Patrick’s Day, one of my favorite celtic bands right up there with Dexys Midnight Runners and The Tossers. Here’s hoping the next album is a great one, still a little leery on the concept but I’m willing to try anything. Fellowship of the Ring recording? Ever listened to Led Zeppelin? I’m packing my bags for the Misty Mountains, where the spirits go. I’d love to ramble on, but I gotta find the queen of all my dreams. Hope Gollum and the evil warg didn’t slip away with her…ain’t nothing I can do.

Gonna go check out the new Eluveitie tune \m/

NAH THOSE OTHER DUDES ARE RIGHT THIS IS SOME STRAIGHT UP BULLSHIT RIGHT HERE. MAN THIS BAND SUCKS SO BAD AND I HAVEN’T EVEN LISTENED TO THE GOD DAMNED SONG. FUCK JUST LOOK AT THAT PICTURE MAN WHAT THE FUCK?!? WHAT A BUNCH OF FUCKING LOSERS. SHIT. ESPECIALLY THE GUY ON THE RIGHT, WHAT THE FUCK SON?!?

  • DemonicLemming

Lovely to see the retards escaped the asylum, at least for a little bit. Hopefully cattle prods are used to herd them back to the Land of Forum Trolls.

Eluveitie fucking rocks. Irregardless of how they dress or what they look like (and being a pagan myself, I don’t see anything wrong with it, better than the fucking gay-ass corpse-paint and tight black leather with studs most death metal bands wear), they fucking rock.

  • spiritual healing

OMG U GUYZZZ folk/viking/pagan 4 evaa. this shit is cool yo thhey use instruments that R ent even guitar. must be good

  • This Guy

Eluveitie is possibly one of the best bands I’ve heard this decade. Yeah, its not your run of the mill, in your face metal…but then again isn’t that why there are so many sub-genre’s of metal? There’s something for everyone…no need to bash what you fear. Eluveitie’s multi-faceted compositions and melodies are simply a notch above the overwhelming “simplistic” metal. Like TOOL was/is to the hard rock/post grunge era.

It’s nice to see all the trolls come out of their caves and think it worthy to chime in with their ‘opinions’.

Eluveitie is one of the most original and refreshing bands out there right now. The fact that they can write this extremely complex music, and be able to pull it off in quality is simply amazing.

They’re different, and that what makes them so amazing. It took me a long time to be able to get into the bag pipes and flutes, but that’s a cultural thing, not a musical thing. Now I consider them one of my favorite bands of all time. The idiots here don’t seem to like them because they play other instruments that aren’t restricted to the generic guitar/bass/drums setup.

    These guys are amazing.

    Period.
